With colder temperatures we’re inclined to wear shawls sweaters and hats to keep warm. Be mindful of winter wear that sheds exessively, many of the fibers can become embedded in the locks. Protect your locks by wearing satin lined caps or scarves with a low pile (yarn count). Lilla Rose hair jewelry also helps keep our locks up and safe from winter wear that has looser fibers. Stay warm.
Two ties, three ties we all scream for ties. These beautiful “Tied Loc Styles“ are held in place with Lilla Rose hair jewelry. An XL flexi is used for both. The Flexis come in seven different sizes ranging from mini to mega. They don’t cut into the hair or cause undo tension, you can wear them all day…pinky promise! http://www.lillarose.biz/cathythomas
In the flow of keeping styles simple after retightenings here’s what two of my clients styled out of the door with today. A little twist here and there, a few bobbi pins coupled with beautiful hair jewelry and they’re all smiles with cute styles.

Keeping styles simple after retightenings are key in not compromising your locks or your fragile hairline. After you’ve had your locks retightened the last thing you want to experience is a style where you can’t smile for fear of your locks snapping at the roots. Actually, we should be mindful of the tension on our locks at all times. Our hairline and locks are compromised when we repetitively wear styles where the locks are unduly stressed. A couple of weeks after your retighten when your locks have loosened up some, more elaborate styles can be experienced. Bobbi Pins with smooth ends as well as hair jewelry with smooth edges complement our locked hairstyles. Part with your hair jewelry that has sharp edges and teeth that can weaken your locks over time. Keep in mind your stylist can’t read your mind when she’s styling your hair, be sure to let her know if the style is too tight or if bobby pins or hair jewelry is causing you discomfort. Be kind, gentle and loving towards your locks…K.I.S.S. by Cathy

Since getting my Sisterlocks there are somethings I simply don’t miss or ever think about, how about you? Share one thing you don’t miss in the comment sections. Oooops!!! I still use my blow dryer occasionally,my bad!!! Let’s see how many other things we can come up with.
Brotherlocks work for this soon to be high school graduate. This young man will soon be heading off to college with his new locks, they were established in December of 2016. His hair virtually locked while I was establishing his Brotherlocks, this is a plus for this active young man. The settling in period will be very quick. The settling in period is the time frame in which special care is given to maintaining one’s locks. The primary difference between Sisterlocks and Brotherlocks is the size. The size of Sisterlocks allow for greater styling versatility. Because of the size of the Brotherlocks this client can wait longer between retightening. This client opted for locking only the top…Love the look!
Long locks, short locs, medium sized locks they come in all different shapes and sizes. Each set is different in their own special way. When I first discovered Sisterlocks I was so excited! I wanted my Sisterlocks to be just like Dr Cornwell’s locks, long flowing and beautiful. Little did I know that my locks would have their own very unique look, feel and style and be every bit as beautiful. Just as no two sets of fingerprints are identical no two heads of locks are identical, they can be very similar but not identical. Differences in hair density, texture and length play a huge role in the outcome of your Sisterlocks and woe unto me if I forget how they’re maintained. You and your consultant are partners on this journey of caring for your locks. I encourage my clients to love every stage of the journey. Starting out for some may be a love hate relationship but as your locks evolve you fall more in love with them. As your locks evolve embrace them, your Sisterlocks journey is just that “yours,” you may compare notes but never compare locks. Your lock journey is unique to you. As the lyrics to an oldie advises…”Love the one you’re with” My advice to you is to …Love the locks you have, embrace them and enjoy the journey.
