Things I’ve learned about Sisterlocks TM…

~ The Sisterlocks package is offered in three parts…The Consultation, the establishment of your locks and the follow-up.

To find a Certified Sisterlocks Consultant or a Sisterlocks Trainee in your area visit http://www.sisterlocks.com

~Sisterlocks are not maintenance free, the maintenance is low but you must maintain your regular appointments and groomings.

~The care you give your Sisterlocks between appointments is important, follow your consultants instructions. i.e.

a. Follow the proper shampooing instructions as your locks settle in and after.

b. Use the proper products on your Sisterlocks, the Sisterlocks product line is available at participating salons as well as the Sisterlocks home office, this line is specifically formulated to work in locked hair. Many products on the market will cause build up in your locks or unraveling.

c. Protecting your locks while sleeping is important, some use a satin or silk scarf or a lock sock. Lint has a way of finding it’s way into our beautiful locks as we get our beauty rest, minimize your lint build up by covering your locks at night. It’s worked for me over the years.

~ Co-washing doesn’t work well with Sisterlocks,Co-washing is where you use conditioner to shampoo your hair. conditioner can build up in the locks and solidify causing your locks to look unsightly.

~Sisterlocks allow your hair to reach it’s fullest growth potential.

~Sisterlocks are not for everybody, your Certified Sisterlocks Consultant or Sisterlocks Trainee will help you assess whether you’re ready to embrace the Sisterlocks lifestyle.

~Sisterlocks work great for kids, your Sisterlocks Consultant can advise on what age is a good time to establish your child’s locks.

~Shrinkage is real and in certain hair types there will be frizz , If your hair shrinks or tends to be frizzy in it’s natural state those characteristics won’t change when you get your Sisterlocks. Your consultant will decide on a locking pattern specific to your hair type, the pattern chosen will aid in minimizing  the frizz. Braid outs, two strand twists and rolling the locks can also minimize the shrinkage and frizz.

~Sisterlocks will mildew if you make it a habit of not drying your hair after washing before hitting the sack.

~If you must color your locks seek professional advise.

~Rinsing your hair with water after swimming in chlorinated water will not remove the chlorine from your locks, you must use a shampoo specifically designed to remove the chlorine. The Sisterlocks starter shampoo works well in most cases. Depending on what stage your locks are in follow with a conditioner, consult with your Sisterlocks Consultant regarding when you can use conditioner.

~ Sisterlocks are all that and then some…I truly love my Sisterlocks!!!

I’ve learned that taking care of  my Sisterlocks is key in them reaching their full growth potential and for staying beautiful.
